Requesting a Mass
The Church understands the Sacrifice of the Mass to be the greatest possible prayer of intercession. It is the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the Paschal Mystery of His death and resurrection.
It is a longstanding tradition in the Church that a Priest may be requested to offer a Mass for a specific intention, even when one cannot be physically present at the Mass. Masses may be offered for a living person, a deceased person or a special need.
The faithful make a free will offering, called a stipend, to a priest or Religious Community in order to apply the Mass to a specific intention. By making this offering, the faithful, by making their own offering, associate themselves more intimately with Christ who offers Himself in the Sacred Host, and obtain thereby more abundant fruits (refer to Pope Paul VI’s letter “Firma in Traditione” of June 13, 1974).
The offering of a stipend is also a means whereby a Catholic may contribute to the upkeep of the priest, serving in a diocese or religious community. The Sacrifice of the Mass is offered ever day by the priests of the parish, and continue to do so during this pandemic. Some Masses are offered publicly (at present via live stream) and others said privately. This means, presently 3 Masses are celebrated per day within All Saints. All Mass intentions are publicised on the weekly Newsletter and includes the donor’s initials in brackets for you to identify.
Request a Mass
To request a Mass or series of Masses to be offered within the parish please complete a request using this form. You have the freedom to make a donation as you wish by either selecting one of the presets or choosing from a custom donation. Please place the details of your Mass requests in the comments box.
If you have a preference, please state which church you would prefer the Mass to be offered in and any date on or near to which you would like the Mass said. PLEASE NOTE – simply placing the request does not guarantee the date and location of the Mass. It is possible an intention has already been placed for that Mass, or circumstances may change requiring the moving of Masses eg. sickness etc. Our priority will always be to try and fulfil the date in another Mass slot/location).
If (below your Mass Intention details) you provide us with a phone number we will endeavour to contact you to confirm details of when and where the Mass will be said.
When placing requests for multiple Masses please place each Mass on a new line and clearly numbered. eg:
- Joe Bloggs RIP – if possible on or around 23rd March
- For a special Intention
- For the intentions of Wendy Bloggs – if possible at St David’s Church
If the request is for a departed person, please add RIP after their name.
