Dial-a-Service is a new initiative we have launched especially for those who cannot access the livestream and do not have access to TV Masses such as EWTN. By calling 01633 982483 they can hear a pre-recorded 10-15 minute period of prayer and reflection on one of the Sunday readings. During the prayer they will also be invited to join with the Act of Spiritual Communion. Please spread the word to those who need it most.
CHURCHES SLOWLY REOPENING
The Catholic Bishops’ of England and Wales have suspended all liturgical worship within the church until further notice. And until the UK Government Lockdown eases all our churches remain closed to the public. St. Mary’s church will reopen for private prayer on Saturday 27th June 2020 once we have received the necessary certification.
PARISH OFFICE CLOSED
The parish office remains closed during the lockdown period. Emails to the parish email address are checked twice a day by the priests. If you have an urgent enquiry please try to contact one of the priests directly on 01633 265533.
Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
The celebration of Baptisms and Weddings are suspended until further notice. For Baptisms in case of emergency i.e. where a person is seriously sick and in danger of death, please call the Emergency Sick Call number 07805 696474.
Funerals are currently only celebrated at the graveside or the crematorium and follow local government guidelines. Service are 10-15 minutes maximum. It will be possible to have a song played in these services and the priest or deacon taking the service will make arrangements with you. Once the coronavirus crisis comes to an end we will be looking as a parish to have some form of service in the church.
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
Open air Confessions are available on Saturdays from 1.00-2.00pm in the grounds of St. David’s church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation can also be offered in the presbytery car park at the back. Simply call 01633 265533 to arrange with one of priests. On arrival the priest will open the back door to the presbytery; please observe the distancing measures that are put in pace for everyone’s safety.
You are dispensed until further notice from your obligation to attend Sunday Mass, but we invite you to continue to keep the Lord’s day holy by joining us online for Mass at 9.00am, 11.00am or 6.00pm on Sundays if you cannot come to Mass at any time during the week..
If you’re not signed up for Standing Order to give to the parish on a consistent basis, this might be the perfect time to sign up. You can fill out and sign the Standing Order Form (which you can download here), which you can either take to the bank or use the information to set up via online banking. We do ask that you a copy to the parish for our records via mail or, or even scan it and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re continuing to work hard and do our best to be financially responsible during these adverse circumstances.
You can also give online with a credit card via our VirginMongeyGiving page . As always, your generosity is appreciated, and it will be especially important in these coming weeks and months.
These are uncertain times, so let us all pray frequently for an end to this pandemic, that all parish functions may return to normal and that we may be preserved from the worst that the Coronavirus can bring.
