What is my purpose?
What happens when I die?
Why is there suffering?
Alpha is a chance to ask these questions and explore the Christian faith in a fun, no-pressure and informal environment. Each session includes a short film and a discussion where you can chat through your thoughts and questions with a small group of people just like you.
The Alpha experience brings together people from all walks of life.
Why come to Alpha?
Alpha is designed for those who ordinarily don’t come to church, who may not even call themselves ‘Christians’ or ‘believers’. But Alpha is also for anyone and everyone who wants to explore the deeper questions.
It is a space designed for honest dialogue, to meet new people, and grow in friendship. People often find it is not what they expect and discover that it is comfortable, enjoyable, and in many ways a life changing experience.
Tthere are no questions that are too hostile, too silly, or too simple. Alpha has no prerequisites. We come together with one another as we are, free to be ourselves. So, why not try Alpha?
What’s it like?
Depending whether you choose to take part in person on online, the experience is in essence the same. Each week we’ll watch an engaging 25 minute film on various topics. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?
Afterwards, we break into small groups and chat about what we have watched. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment. If you don’t feel like speaking, there is no pressure.
If you are coming to Alpha ‘in-person’ then we start slightly earlier and share a meal together before we watch the film.
