May is dedicated to the month of Our Blessed Lady. Devotion to Our Lady brings us ever closer to her Son. Mary lived with her eyes fixed on Christ, treasuring every moment, and pondering them in her heart. We are invited during the month of May to do the same, to sit at her feet, pondering the mysteries of her Son, and discover, or re-discover, the treasures of devotions like the rosary.
As a way of encouraging and promoting devotion, there will be a statue of Our Lady, which will make a pilgrimage around the parish. Parishioners are invited to sign-up for the statue to spend an evening in their homes. During this time, you are invited to foster within the family and the local community a spirit of devotion. There will also be the opportunity to offer petitions to Our Lady. These will be collected and burned at the end of the month. The pilgrim statue of Our Lady will visit each community on set days, as follows:
1st – 5th May – St. Mary’s
6th – 10th May – St. Anne’s
11th – 15th May – St. David Lewis
16th – 20th May – Ss. Basil & Gwladys
21st – 25th May – St. David’s
26th – 30th May – St. Michael’s
31st May – Mass of thanksgiving and consecration of the parish to Our Lady, and the burning of the petitions.
Please consider signing up, and offering your home as a place of pilgrimage for the statue of Our Lady to visit. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the churches.
